CTV National Fellowships, made possible through the CTV-CHUM benefits, are intended to encourage professional development in the television industry by enabling emerging creative talent - including producers, writers and directors (i.e., program makers) - to attend the Banff World Media Festival. Fellowships are not intended for established professionals, nor are they intended for entry-level candidates. Applicants must have a minimum of one significant production credit in writing, producing, or directing.
Successful applicants will receive:
- One complimentary registration to the Banff World Media Festival, June 10-13, 2012, including access to all seminars, workshops, and official social events.
- Return air transportation to the Festival within Canada from your province of residence (transportation allowance based on lowest airfare available).
- A limited mentorship program prior to the Festival opening, providing an an enhanced professional development experience to the selected fellows, leading up to their journey to Banff.
Accommodation and all other costs of attending the Festival are the responsibility of the fellowship recipient.
Applicant Requirements:
- Applicants should be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants
- Previous winners may apply (applicants awarded Fellowships in the past will not be given a high priority)
- Applicants should have at least one significant production credit (must be a writing, directing, or producer credit)
- Applicants must present a specific, suitable-for-broadcast project to Banff with specific goals in mind
- Projects must qualify as Canadian Content
- Projects must be from drama, documentary, children’s, comedy/entertainment, lifestyle, or reality genre
Each application will be judged according to the merits of the project that will be brought to BANFF; the applicant's strategy for maximizing opportunities at BANFF; and the applicant's financial need.
Submission Requirements:
- One-page resume outlining your background and most recent production credits
- One-page statement indicating why you believe your project will benefit from the Fellowship, including a plan and strategies for achieving your objectives at BANFF
- One-page statement describing the creative aspects of the project you wish to take to BANFF indicating, for example, format (MOW, short drama, doc etc), intended audience and stage of development
- One-page statement providing budget information, including information on the proposed financing of development and production
- Two to three reference letters from sources in the Television industry or knowledgeable of the television industry
